Jessica Wood, LMHC, NCC, is a licensed mental health counselor, national board certified counselor, and psychology adjunct instructor. She graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State/European Division and has been teaching in the field since 2008. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents as a school-based mental health clinician and specialized understanding of military populations and the unique stressors faced by the nation’s warriors and their families.Jessica is a parenting and family advocate and has been a workshop presenter for the European Branch of the American Counseling Association conference. She provides individual, couple, and family therapy.
As a Christian, Jessica believes the Scriptures give guidance and powerful insight into living an emotionally, mentally, and spiritually abundant life. She combines her faith worldview with the theoretical orientations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, and Client Centered modalities. She has strong interest in treating relationship issues, parenting concerns, stress and anger management, mood and anxiety disturbances, life transitions, and eating disorders. Jessica is originally from Iowa and relocated to the beautiful Hawaiian islands in 2012. As a single parent to her two sons, she finds great meaning in coaching and encouraging other parents in their roles as heads of households. In addition to her boys, she enjoys sharing life with her church Ohana. Jessica holds telehealth sessions using Online Care for HMSA members and Zoom for all other insurances.
