Dr. Andrea Hermosura was born in Honolulu and raised in Kaneohe, Hawai’i. She graduated from the Kamehameha Schools and received her PhD in Clinical
Psychology from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UH Manoa). She is a Native Hawaiian licensed psychologist providing individual, couples, and group therapy.
Dr. Hermosura’s primary theoretical approach is cognitive behavioral therapy for individuals working through depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief/loss,
parenting challenges, stress and anger management, and the management of chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure, overweight/obesity). She also
has specialized training and expertise in evidence-based approaches to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain, and sexual addictions.
She is also an Assistant Professor at the Department of Native Hawaiian Health at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the UH Manoa where her primary research
interests are in health disparities, social and cultural determinants of health (e.g., implicit bias), community-based participatory research, and patient safety. In
addition, she practices at the Physician Center Mililani, where integrated primary care and behavioral health services are provided. She enjoys spending quality
time with her husband and son, other family members, and friends.
