Dr. Cha received her PhD from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a licensed psychologist providing individual, couples, group and family therapy. While she grew up on the east coast, and has lived and worked in the mid west and the west coast, she considers Hawaii home.
Her primary theoretical approach is insight oriented psychotherapy for individuals working through relationship issues, depression, grief/loss, and adjustment and transition through life’s challenges.
Dr. Cha has specialized training and expertise in evidence-based approaches to help treat symptoms associated with anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood & personality disorders, and shame. She works collaboratively to recognize patterns and become aware of unconscious habits and choices that impact one’s life and functioning. She utilizes an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) framework for couple’s therapy and a system’s approach with families. Dr. Cha also facilitates a mixed gender Interpersonal Process Group on Wednesday evenings. The group provides a safe space for members to explore patterns of thoughts and behaviors. Additionally, group members work to express their own concerns, feelings, ideas and reactions as freely and honestly as possible.
Dr. Cha will be relocating to the mainland in April 2019 and is no longer accepting new clients. If you are a current client of Dr. Cha’s, you may continue to reach her until the end of March. Please call Keri at 808-387-4355 if you have questions. Mahalo!
